TEACHING WORKSHOPS AT LOCAL CLOTH

Local Cloth currently offers half day, full day, and multiple day workshops in the Local Cloth Studio and occasionally off-site.

You must be a member of Local Cloth to teach a workshop. If you would like to teach, complete the Instructor Bio Form and the Workshop Proposal Form. After your proposal has been submitted, the Local Cloth Workshop Committee will review it and the Local Cloth Program Coordinator will contact you directly to follow up about scheduling. Please note that you need only complete the Instructor Bio Form once when you first apply to be a Local Cloth Instructor. However, please complete a new Workshop Proposal form for each new class you would like to teach.

A headshot and a photo of your class project are required; please follow the instructions in the forms for sending photos. Ideally, images should be no larger than 1200 pixels on the long side and cannot be stock images.

Please contact the Workshop Committee by emailing workshops@localcloth.org with any questions.

OVERVIEW OF INSTRUCTOR FEES, POLICIES AND PROCESS

+ The Workshop Committee provides a Workshop Monitor for each workshop. This person will serve as the contact person for the Instructor and reach out prior to the Workshop to touch base about the number of registrations. The Workshop Monitor will also help with setup and cleaning up, and will be there during the class to assist the Instructor and represent Local Cloth. The Workshop Monitor also has the option to take the class but does not count as one of the 5 required registrants for a "full class".

+ Teachers are paid based on a full class, which is defined as having at least 5 registrants (this does not include the Instructor or Monitor). If there are not at least 5 students signed up, the instructor can either cancel the class (not less than two weeks prior to the date of the class) or can continue to teach with their teaching fee prorated based on the number of students. For example, if there are 4 people signed up for a full-day workshop, the instructor would be paid $240 or $60 per person.

+ Compensation: Half-day (at least 3 hours) | $150. Full-day (at least 6 hours) | $300. Two Full-day (at least 12 hours) | $600.

+ Teachers set their own Materials Fee. This fee is collected at the beginning of the workshop and coordinated by the Workshop Monitor. Teachers can provide a list of required materials in advance and have students supply their own materials or an instructor can request a combination of materials fee and student-supplied materials.
