When John Styles was researching a new book about the clothing of everyday people in 18th century Britain, he came across a poignant but important story. This talk will introduce us to his discovery of Britain’s, and perhaps the world’s, largest collection of everyday 18th century. textiles and the sacrifices which led to its creation.
