I have created books for children for the past 25 years and have a particular passion for how textiles can be used within the strict format of the picture book. This lecture (created especially for Asheville's inspiring Textile Study Group) will include the basics of the picture book structure as well as a visual survey of how various textile techniques have been used to deliver a story—including quilting, collage, felting, stitching, sculpture, dyeing, combinations, and more. How would you follow a narrative arc with YOUR techniques and materials? That's the question I want to answer!
