Members! Join us via Zoom for a tour of Judi's Spaceport.
Judi Jetson has been playing with fiber for most of her life. She learned to knit from her grandmother when she was only 5; then embroidery and needlepoint came as coordination grew, with tie-dye and batik featured in her high school years. She added quilting and weaving (learning from Susan at the Yarn Barn) in her 30s, but didn't get serious about any of these womanly arts until she moved to Pinellas County, FL in the 80s, got a loom and became active with the local weavers guild. When she moved to WNC in 2000, she became a committed spinner and now spins local fleece into yarn for knitting.
Judi's home studio is on the lower floor of her house; it's a former basement remodeled to her specifications. Dubbed Judi's Spaceport during a visit to the Yummy Mud Puddle, her studio includes a dye kitchen (which doubles as a fleece washing station), carding zone, weaving/living room, library/office, a spinning porch and a stash storage corner that's a source of both pride and embarrassment. She enjoys teaching and sharing what she knows at the Local Cloth Studio, and also at home. Judi will show you a few finished pieces in her living room, and then bring you all down to her playroom.
