This month we will be using fresh indigo to get a range of pink and purple colors from the indirubin precursor in fresh indigo. Bring your freshly harvested Japanese indigo leaves and some cellulose and/or silk to explore the pinks and purples available from fresh indigo. We will modify the bath chemically, but again it is not a vat. If you haven't joined the us for the study group we pick one topic each month which is led by one of the natural dyer's in our group. This is not a class and does assume a basic familiarity with natural dyeing. We do recommend that you have taken a class or done some research so you can have a satisfactory experience.

What to Bring: scoured cellulose and/or silk for one bath. You may bring unmordanted and mordanted pieces to pick up the yellow to get orangish in the same bath. You will need at least 10x the weight of your fiber in leaves. Indirubin prefers white; bleached cellulose or white silk get the best color.
