This course is a beginning workshop in Temari, a Japanese form of embroidery. Temari originated in China and moved to Japan in the 7th century CE. Originally a folk art, it gradually became a traditional art form, transforming from hand balls for children (“temari” means “hand ball”) to extraordinary gifts representing great friendship.
MATERIALS FEE: 25 dollars, Pre-wound ball, Threads, Needles, Paper strip for guidelines
Level: Beginner, some experience with embroidery is helpful.

What to bring/how to dress: Scissors, measuring tape with cm/mm divisions, and straight pins with colored heads (~1 ½”).
