Take your sashiko stitching to the next level in this hands-on, six-hour clinic designed for fiber artists who are ready to explore more intricate techniques. Participants will learn how to prepare traditional cotton/linen fabric for two-layered stitching and gain confidence combining hitomezashi (one-stitch) and moyozashi (pattern) styles in a single hanafukin cloth. Clear demonstrations and guided practice will help you achieve balanced, even stitches while managing multiple pattern transitions within one cohesive design. After completing your stitched sampler, you’ll discover creative ways to finish and use your work. We’ll cover hemming, edge treatments, and practical finishing methods that preserve the beauty and integrity of your piece. The class will conclude with project inspiration for incorporating your stitched hanafukin into home and personal accessories—such as pillows, totes, or fabric baskets—showcasing your artistry and skill in a functional, contemporary way.
